Large diameter RGP lens the way to go?

Brief history

Diagnosed: SEPT 2010
RIGHT CXL: May 2013
Left: C3r intacs Sept 2014

I had to wait 6 months to be able to start fitting process for left eye. First tried to fit rgp but bubbles kept forming underneath lens. They switched to ROSE K XL RGP LENS.

A few questions:

1) Hosp gave me a plunger which makes insertion easy but when I remove the lens using it causes a very intense traumatic eye pain. Am I doing something wrong?

2) is it best to use p/free saline to fill up the lens before insertion and are any available on prescription

Thanks

Hi pbsiakht,

Removing a lens shouldn't hurt. There are some FAQs on the Rose K2 XL lens which explains the technique for removing the lens with a plunger. The FAQs can be found here:

Hi Lia

Just wanted to provide a quick update from hospital. The optom told me this is a common problem with 14 mm rose xl lens, They form a very tight seal and a lot of people have difficulty removing them. She also told me it is a common issue with hybrid lens. I tried an 18 mm scleral lens which was perfectly fine to remove but vision was poor. My first preference would be an RGP but the issue is a bubble keeps forming upon insertion. I'm optimistic that I will get there in the end. In hindsight, I can honestly say it was a mistake getting INTACS, they have made fitting overall difficult.
