severe pain in one eye

I have been suffering from severe pain in my right eye since Friday night, I have been in tears with the pain and have not been able to put my lens back in since I tried this morning and managed to keep it in for an hour and had to take it back out and my eye has been watering all the time. Does anyone have any idea what it could be or suffered this before? Thank for reading and for any advice.

Hi Elaine,
This could be anything from a severe abrasion to a corneal ulcer to a hydrops (when there's a tear in a back layer of the cornea). Whatever it is, you need to keep your lens out and have your eye looked at by a professional who can tell you what the problem is. Is there an A&E department at your local hospital that you can go to? If not, do go to your optician tomorrow morning.
All the best and let us know how you get on.
Anne

As Anne has said you need to get checked out as it could be a number of things. Hoping that it sorts itself out soon. Take care, Claire Xxx
