I've had this condition throughout my teenage years and currently applying to go to university. however my condition is taken a bigger toll on me. how have people dealt with this condition the further you go in education

Most unis are very good these days at providing any extra help needed for students with a disability or health problem. We have forum users and members who have successfully completed all sorts of courses (including several medics). Hopefully one of our current students or recent graduates will see this post and be able to tell you more, but the disability unit at your uni should be able to provide things like specialised software or any other aids you might need.

In the days before suport groups and PowerPoint presentations at University, I had a dicatphone taperecorder that I had to purchase from the RNIB to record all my lectures and the lecturers photocopied the diagrams that went with their lectures and I had to cop everything out by hand. This was only for my frst year while my first graft healed and I was studying microbioogy and went on to gain a BSc Hon in the subject.

Things are a lot simpler now as lectureers use PowerPoint so can email their prestations to you, most smart phones, tablets and laptops can record lectures with very good sound quality and the built in maginifiers are pretty good.

More specialist stuff is available but bottom line is, it is far easier to get support so higher education is really no obstacle to us.
