Very much case by case depending on your level of vision, KC stability lens tolerance etc.
There are no restrictions on my licence and same goes for my insurance.

There are no restrictions for notifying the DVLA for KC.
There is an option to tell them that you need glasses/contact lenses for driving, thats coded on to your licence.
My lens fitter says that we shouldn't really be driving when we solely rely on lenses for vision. We have no back up because glasses don't work for us. He asked me what would happen if I drove to London from Liverpool and something happened. Requiring me to remove my lenses for the rest of the day, as your eyes become too sore to put them back in. Technically your stranded, be it on the motorway, in another city, or the middle of the countryside. I couldn't give him an answer other than phone my recovery service.

The best idea seems to be to notify the DVLA immediately you have a diagnosis of KC. Give them permission to contact your ophthalmologist.
I have no restrictions on my license and my KC has no impact on my insurance.

I thought that at least for gaining a licence it had recently changed? That there is now some form of field of vision test?
For example my right eye is useless so I think now I'd need to get tested fully for that. I don't drive and one of the excuses I use for not retrying my test is that using one eye only is more difficult (though people do it obviously). That and I don't really enjoy driving plus means never have to be the driver.

u have to notify dvla of any eye condition now. if u look for example on a d1 form it says any eye condition.
KC is a eye disease dvla will need to know bout. I notified them and got at 8 page medical questionnaire on all sorts eye conditions.

the d1 is like applying for a license, exchange a paper for photo card,
both forms found online I think.
with KC medical questionnaire. They ask u double vision, have u got reduced or loss of field of vision, cataracts, glaucoma, something with degenaration. have u got these diseases and was a list and what eye.
