Well a precedent has been set for future disability discrimination tribunals.

Re: Tribunal awards 2nd highest amount to Police Officer wit
This case is now quite dated, 2008 and would have fallen under the Disability Discrimination Act.
I am surprised this case as not been identified already on this forum. It would be interesting to know how many KCers have been dismissed at work, via Tribunal cases. Does our charity have any data?
I am awaiting a copy of the records of this case and will report my findings in due course.

Received the case records (request just issued in time as now case records more than 6 years old are destroyed)
This is what it says about the Officer's KC-
His disability is not in dispute. He has a degenerative eye condition called keratoconus diagnosed in 2003, it distorts the cornea. The remedy is the wearing of special contact lenses to force the cornea into an acceptable refractive surface or corneal graft. Surgery is not possible in the case of Mr J.He is unable to wear contact lenses for any extended period of time. the practical effect is that the vision in his left eye is extremely poor. He describes it as trying to read a magazine at the bottom of a busy swimming pool. The secondary problem is that his left eye is his dominant eye. He quickly gets double vision doing VDU work;it causes him particular difficulties using various applications with fixed screen. He managed his condition effectively, in his own opinion and in ours. He had arranged for a larger screen in hisdesktop. He then negotiated later on as his eyesight deteriorated with the Force Medical Adviser, a restriction on his daylight at work hours during the winter months, coupled with working from home to ensure his hours were kept up. He addition he was removed from the list of Inspectors required to work one week of nights per year as County night cover.
