Can anyone out there help me please. For the past couple of months I have been getting the most awful 'headaches' in my left eye. The pain is behind the eye ball and is so painful. I had to take 2 weeks of work. The medical profession can find nothing wrong... They are constant. I wake with them and go to bed with them. They are present wearing my lenses or not. Just a thought; have you had the pressure in your eye checked? Or, do you have a history of migraine headaches? (my original opthalmologist was very interested to know if I had suffered from migraines, when he diagnosed my condition as keratoconus).

Your optician should be able to check your eye pressure (either private practice or hospital). if the pressure is up, then a remedy is not far away.

If your headache is a manifestation of migraines, then the usual remedies apply.

Sorry you are having such a rotten time. There is something inescapable about the sort of headache you describe. Every best wish.

Andrew, Thanks for that. I have tried two different migraine medications, neither which work. I don't have a history of migraine. It was suggested that I try a beta-blocker. I just hate the idea of that. As a Dispenser that must sound awful.. But I suppose I know too much some times. But I want to know WHY... I'm getting them. I will find out about an eye pressure test in the morning. I had not thought of that at all. With Thanks. Jacqueline.

Is your eye red at all, I once had what I could only describe as a numb, pain of varying intensity that felt like it was at the back of my eye (Inside my head)

My eye wasn't really red not more than normal but it turned out to be Iritis (An inflamed iris), this wasn't spotted by my GP, nor A&E staff only after a few more days and at a specialist eye hospitals A&E department!!

Funny thing my eye wasn't very red, but looking at a light source hurt..
