Opticians this afternoon

Bit of a downer this afternoon.

Sat in my Optom's swanky new examining room, getting to use all his swish new kit...great fun.

Did the eye chart with my good (right) eye not too bad. Then went to do it with my poor (left) eye.

Couldn't even read the top line with that one. Never been that bad before.

Isn't it funny how alone you can feel in one of those moments...

I'm off to count my blessings before I start dwelling.

Just think about the next footie season, work on your sight now and you will be able to see Yeovil play again.

Ha....thanks Gareth. I am still managing OK at the moment, although I have a good mate who gently tells me that the player I thought was on the ball is actually on the other side of the field and that guy is actually so and so. I used to get embarrassed but now...pah who gives a ....

Anyway, with the form we're showing this season, maybe not seeing would be a good thing.

Doncaster Rovers at home tomorrow, praying for 3 important points. :D

Thanks for your words.

Actually would being able to see improve the viewing of Yeovil playing? :-)

Paul:

seriously though, its a bit of a horror when you cant make the top line out, I hope that they can sort you a lens out.

Yes, I know exactly how that feels. You not only feel alone, bur also rather stupid, as if the iunaility to read the chart means that you are, in some way, failing the optician!

Still, they usually manage to move the chart nearer. if you still can't see it they can hold up their fingers. if you can't count the fingers they can always wave their hand. if you can't see that then they become very sympathetic!

Paul....you're a mean man. You must know how despsperate us footy fans get at this time in the season....especially when your team is fighting to avoid the drop!!!

Anyway, we won yesterday, beat Doncaster Rovers 3-0 so I'm all happy again now! :D

Andrew you really made me laugh! Yes sympathy at those moments is always good!! LOL!!

Paul sorry to hear that things aren't good right now, but our vision can change all the time so maybe it was just a bad day? Wishing you all the best.

Or you can be really naughty and having read so many i have now memorised the chart, so now my optometrist has got a new one and i haven't mastered that one yet! LOL!! Last time i saw him he was like claire will you stop cheating and just tell me what you CAN see not what you would like to say you can see! LMAO!! Although i had the last laugh as i really could see the three lines i read with pinholes as that was the grafted eye!! LOL!!

I still liik at the chart as I approach the seat. You can usually get a good look at it before you sit down. I have the sort of memory that makes it fairly easy to memorize the chart almost down to the bottom.

It then takes a supreme effort of will not to recite the letters (as I did when I was at school).

These days optometrists often change the chart once the patient is sitting down, so the old problem has been overcome. there is a new version of the chart that has two O's next to each other on a single line. Now that's cheating!
