Any musician's out there?

Hi all

i am learning to play the violin and just had my grade 2 exam.

Before the exam my teacher called the Associated Board to ask them if it would be possible to have a large print version of the sight reading test. It is a nightmare trying to work our whether the note is on the line or in the space...

They said no probs and at my exam the examiner produced thie HUGE piece of paper! With whacking great notes on it. It was so clear.

I always thought I was rubbish at sight reading, piano (which I since gave up cos it was depressing) and singing etc. but I am not that bad.

So if you're going for music exams - request the large print sight reading. I also had the exam pieces blown up a bit too.

I'll let you know the result when it comes...

I love my guitar, i can play the Piano but prefer my Keyboard. I don't play as much since i have had no contact lenses. As the notes seem to bounce around the page. When i have some lenses i expect i will get back to it.

Long story, but basically. Specsavers made a right mess. I was with out an optician so just waiting on the hospital appointment. Which i have been waiting for since January, i have a dat now though 20/04/06

What a nightmare! I always go back to my optician in Ireland. He was the one who tols me I had KC. I could never go anywhere else now.

Finding an optician who know what they're talking about is like gold dust!!!

Yes, finding an optician can be tricky.

Just a reminder then, of the recommend-an-optician page that full members will have the password to (it's in the members-only area).

We'd like to have several hundred competant opticians listed eventually, but at the moment, we're stuck on 15.

So why not log in and recommend your own optician - if they're any good!!!

My daughter is a professional musician. Among the various elements tht make uup her protfolio of work is a regular session with adults with learning difficulties, and one with sight impaired musicians.

I'll copy your post to her. I know that she will find it interesting to know that the exam board can make this allowance (she may already know, but there is no harm in repeating information!)

Well if she doesn't know I'm sure it will be of great help to her. The examiner did not refer to it at all. He was very professional about it.

Alfie Vize - imagine a guiy called Vize ends up an optician!

There re several families with the surname "Vize" in the twon where I work. Your Alfie Vize is the only other person of whom I have ever heard with this name. Is it local to Dublin? I am always interested to know where names come from.
