9 months post graft update

Postby Asif » Wed 05 Apr 2006 6:54 am

Had a refraction again yesterday aswell as a meeting with a consultant. Here are the results of my refraction yesterday and on my last checkup:

-3.50DS/-.50DCx125 VA 6/9, 6/60 uncorrected (4/4/06)

-2.00DS/0.50DCx120 VA 6/6, 6/36 uncorrected (28/2/06)

From the two refractions it shows that my vision has gotten slightly worse since my last checkup 5 weeks ago. The astigmatism is still low at 0.50D but by myopia(short-sightedness) has gotten worse. I have noticed myself that my vision has gotten slightly worse in the past 3 weeks. I am now seeing 6/60 uncorrected, still read 6/36 but only becuase I've memorised all the snellen charts in the clinic as I've been there so many times.

I have also noticed that the ghosting/multiple imaging has also got slightly worse, but is still a great improvement since pre-graft.

The graft looked clear and I still have all 16 sutures in place. My consultant was still very reluctant to remove any of them yet at this stage as my astigmatism is at 0.50D, if one is taken it out it could make the astigmatism worse. She asked me if I really wanted one out I could but I left it to her judgment as I didnt want to risk it at this time since my vision has already gotten worse.

I tested out my current glasses with the Rx from my last refraction and was getting 6/18, so my prescription has changed significantly since the past 3-4 weeks. From anyone else, has you vision fluctuated greatly in the sense that it has gotten worse in between refractions but then after has improved again?

I shouldn't be too concerned about any variation in vision at this stage. That will change when the sutures start coming out.

It is good to know that your graft is healthy!

Fluctuations are common....I have only had a steadh 6/9 over the past three months...befoer that it would vary from 6/9 -3 tto 6/12 -3
