Feeling very down
I am having a very low period at the moment. Eye problems of course. Haven't driven the car for almost a year. Fed up with having to go everywhere with someone else, as they have driven me. Today I have had enough. I would do anything, as I'm sure most of us would, to just be able to see clearly enough to get on with life.. Someone send me a joke, to make me laugh again.

No joke, because how you feel is no joke. It is hard to live with wonky eyes and to struggle each day to see the things that are around you.
If we are honest, we all cry out in anguish and sometimes even rage, "why me?" The answer is never easy, because we also know that we are challenged to ask "why not?"
I was unable to drive for two and a half years before I got my post-graft sight back. At times, indeed for most of the time, I did not really expect ever to be able to see again. Then, long after I had given up hope, my sight began to improve. Rapidly it got better until I could see well enough with glasses, to drive, and now I can see almost everything on the 6/6 line.
Do not give up. Do not panic. But if you want to rage against outrageous fortune, then this is the place.

Hi Jacqueline!!
Is it still the virus that's stopping you wearing lenses? Let me know whats going on!
I have only just got a car after 18 months non driving after I came back from Trinidad... mainly because in Great Yarmouth you can walk most places and I was determined to get fit. However, you can't carry loads of bags back from the supermarket and you can't go somewhere on a whim as you have to ask other people to take you as you say.. or get a taxi. Really annoying.
This weekend was spent in the garden pruning and creating loads of mess that I was actually able to drive to the tip and dispose of. Amazing what small pleasures can be obtained from having a car!
As I said, let me know what's goigjn on with your eyes and meanwhile, if you want to be cheered up, go to the Chit Chat section in playpen - quite a few funny stories there!
Best wishes
Lynn

if you do decide to go to non-kc chit chat, be warned: stay away from the string started by Emma-Marie entitled "Are all men unable to multi-task"
Lynn has a rush of blood to the head and reveals the hidden secrets of the women's changing room.
If you decide to ignore this warning, you do so at your own risk.

We cant have you feeling down!!
Here is a small list of jokes! some good, some bad..and some even worse!
What is the longest word in the English language?
"Smiles". Because there is a mile between its first and last letters!
------------------------------------------------------------------
There are 5 birds in a tree. A hunter shoots 2 of them dead. How many birds are left?
2 birds. The other 3 fly away!
----------------------------------------------------------
An English teacher wrote these words on the whiteboard: "woman without her man is nothing". The teacher then asked the students to punctuate the words correctly.
The men wrote: "Woman, without her man, is nothing."
The women wrote: "Woman! Without her, man is nothing."
----------------------------------------
The woman was in bed with her lover and had just told him how stupid her Irish husband was when the door was thrown open and there stood her husband. He glared at her lover and bellowed, "What are you doing?" "There," said the wife, "didn't I tell you he was stupid?"
----------------------------------------------------------
What's the definition of a pessimist? A pessimist is a well-informed optimist.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Mark called in to see his friend Angus (a Scotman) to find he was stripping the wallpaper from the walls. Rather obviously, he remarked "You're decorating, I see." to which Angus replied "No. I'm moving house."

KC is about facing the challenges it creates rather than accepting the problems it generates -

I have no joke to you but I can assure you I have felt the same for so long. I can say nothing else than to make sure you get yourself under the knife asap. The world awaits you. The last wonder I saw through my new corneas was the psycho moon landscape surrounding Edinbourgh. So when that can happen to me there is certainly hope for you. All the best for you !

Hi Jacquelilne! - hope you're feeling more cheerful again soon.
Joke, as requested:
Q: what do you call a one-eyed dinosaur?
A: doyouthinkhesaurus
(for which, blame my local Halifax estate agents. THey have taken to having a flip chart in their window with the Joke Of The Week, plus all the latest houses/flats for sale that have come in in the last few days. They haven't yet had "How mnay estate agents does it take to change a light bulb?" Can anyone think of a suitable response? - if so, I'll go and suggest it to them.)
