Hi,
for those out there like myself who have difficulty wearing lenses, i recommend putting in a solution called Refesh Contacts in your eyes before putting in the contacts. I have done this for the past couple of days and noticed a big difference. Now your one of your eyes might still not want to takes the lens in to begin with. Simply take the lens out for a half hour or so insert a couple of more drops and insert the lens again. The pain in my eyes have been reduced considerably. Keep the drops in a cool place. I myself have purchased a pair of poleroid glasses and a baseball cap to reflect the sunlight and wind.
Hopefully this is of some benefit to some.

Hi Rosemary, You can find out about this research project from
the KC Group website on the following page
http://www.keratoconus-group.org.uk/kcstudy.htm. I am assuming that
they still require volunteers as Andrew only went last week.

Thanks, Sue! - I've now remember the back-of-old-envelope to
write this down on, so next time I log onto a browser, I'll have a go.

I have phoned Marine Gobbe today (1st April) to offer myself as a volunteer. I will be going on 10th April. More volunteers are still required.

I have my new lenses, it is great to see the computer screen without having to screw my eyes up.
I have the hard centre and soft outer edge type, I believe they are known as soft perms. It is not so easy to remove these lenses as it was with the rgp's I had years ago, They are much easier on the eye though.
My specialist advised me that sclerals were not suitable for me.
At one stage I didn't think I would get any help from NHS as my sight was said to be nearly 20/20. Though I was able to read the bottom line with help from the lenses used in testing my eyes, distorted vision is difficult for people to understand who have not got KC.

Hi to David and Suzanne, who I met at Ken's clinic in Oxford on Friday. I hope you've found this site. Let us know how you went with scherals. Are they going to help you?
Keep in touch. It was good to meet you. Janet

Hi Everyone
I have been experiencing some problems with lens wear. My eye feels painful and sore when I have my lenses in and my left lens is really hard to get out. I was prescribed Patanol drops by mr buckley, and have been getting the trial size drops sent to me as they are not yet sold over here - only in america. They have run out of their supply so I am having to go without any drops at the moment and I am having to wait until late may until my appointment, and have been told not to use anything else in the mean time. I have heard a couple of mentions of cutting out dairy products from the diet, does this help the itchiness? I have been told that I have allergic conjuctivitis. Would cutting out dairy products help this? any advice would be appreciated as I dont know how I'll get to my appointment in may at this rate because eyes are so itchy!
Thanks
Emmax
