I was thinking of driving next time, so it would be easy to pick you up from Rugby station, then I have a map reader for Brum :D

You think having me as a map reader is a guarantee that you'll end up in the right place? The rest of the household are having a good laugh at the thought of me map reading - the rotters!

Thank you for the offer but if I go they'll drop me off and pick me up. I'm already being asked if there are any good shops close by. I haven't got a clue, it's years since I went to Birmingham.

I walked from the station last time, it was about 20 minutes, but I had had an adverse reaction to my lenses then so could not read a map :D

There is a bus from the hospital to the city centre where there are loads of good shops, so the hospital would be a good place to leave the car.

Does this mean I could blag a lift if you go via the A45?

Ah, so you went the scenic route without being able to see any of the scenery then. :P

Thanks for the tip. :D

As I've already been reminded (quite strongly  ) by both daughters of the lectures I've given them in the past about the dangers of meeting people you come across on the internet I'm smiling here at the thought of you squashed up on the back seat between two silent teenage girls eyeing you in suspicion.
Besides, I've no idea where the A45 is anyway.

I would ask people her for a reference, but I would hate to think what Sweet, John, Anne,Michael, Anne (Chairman) and Marion would have to say about me!

Look forward to meeting you at the Hospital in a safe environment.

Will your doughters be in black suits and dark glasses acting as body guards 8)

Sounds quite intimidating :D

Ooh, I wouldn't mind hearing what they have to say about you.

My eldest has the intimidation thing down pat. :( It doesn't help me that she's taller than me (we won't mention that I'm wider  ).

I still don't know where the A45 is. Have I got to get a map out?

Alison (sat here wondering how on earth a thread that started out with questions that had been really bothering me since joining here has ended up being such fun :D )

Jay - just noticed your post before clicking on submit. Would you recommend a 157ft one then? :P

Alison

I don't know that Jay has ever really met Gareth. Neither have I. To whom do you turn for reassuring advice?

Oh Gareth, at least he didn't edit you so that you said, "when I was a bit of a thug, I was younger." Imagine the stories that could begin like that.

... but then I got keratoconus, drove my car too fast, started working in pharmaceuticals, became a dad and now I am respectable I am much
(much .. much ... ) older.

Actually I have always thought that owning our youth was a good way to live with ourselves as adults.
