DVLA, great end to a great day!

Postby jayboi2005 » Fri 24 Mar 2006 3:52 pm

Hello,
well with all the talk of Driving lately i returned home to a loverly letter from the DVLA this afternoon. The words were, please could you put your Driving License in the envelope provided. Our decision is final, however you do have the right to appeal at your local Magistrates court.

So great morning at my job interview, and lovely letter to top it all off.

I think i will appeal, i think i can see enough. The reason they give when i just rang them up was you havent given us the name of the consultant when we asked in Feb. Well i actually told them i don't have one. im still on the list. What a mess

J-B

Your GP should be able to help out or your current optician.

GP will know who you have been refered to so you can pass this to the DVLA.

Optician should be able to give a letter stating your sight means you should be able to read the number plate of a car at the required distance.

I hope the interview went OK and you will get a positive response soon.

Regards

Gareth

Interview went ok yup thanks.

I just rang the patient booking centre up, and this nice lady answered for a change  who did seem to sound nice anyway. She took my mobile number and said i will ring you the first chance i see an appointment become free. So that was good, because most just say ill add you to the list and forget. :D

I can't really go and ask Specsavers for a letter as me and them don'y get on very well at the moment, we have a little falling out back in January however i am due for another routing optical appointment 11th April so ill see what comes of that. Cheers Jay

Hi

My understanding was in cases like this you could be asked to go to your nearest driving test centre and be tested as to whether or not you can actually see the required distance.

Hopefully if your GP can help as suggested this can all be sorted out for you.

hope it is soon and that the jobcentre visit went well

Susan
don't let the people that mean nothing to you get you down, because in the end they are worth nothing to you, they are just your obstacles in life to trip you up!

Yes i have also read somewhere that you can call the testing centre as they do have an eye chart that you can be tested with. Failing that they can advise you on what to do and you can get to read a number plate as well.

There are also loads of free offers on eyetests in certain places at the moment, sadly Specsavers is probably one of them! But an eye test doesn't really cost much and is worth it if you really need to know asap! They won't be able to give you anything to say you can see 6/12 but you can give DVLA their details and they can contact them to get the results.

I wouldn't panic right now as i'm sure that this can be sorted soon! Also good luck with the job process, am wishing you all the best!!

I agree about ss but are there no independent opticians nearby who could give you a letter - even if they charge a fee for it, it will be worth it!

I have an appointment with an optician on Friday, the thing now is i have to put my license in the envelope and return it. And the only thing they are willing to accept is a local court appeal. Which i will then have the oppertunity to put my case forward. What a mess

JB go ahead and return your license. Things are easier to sort out afterwards than try to short circuit things now.

All the best

J-B,

Before sending yuor licence back, make a copy so that it is easier to quote your licence number in any future correspondence. It helps with tracking your records quicker.

Good luck.
Gareth
