To those of you who wear sclerals- I wondered how many months use you get out of them, bar any necessary change through prescription or splitting etc. I've had mine for 18 months and they now appear discoloured and i'm concerned about the amount of oxygen getting through to my eye. Recently after a day's wear, my eyes become sore and i'm doing a great panda impression, with dark areas under my eyes.
can anyone suggest how often they should be changed? -obviously depends on daily use,but is the life of a scleral
normally as much as 18 months? Does anyone get tired/sore eyes after wearing the same lens over a long length of time?I would like to know the time period optometrists are quoting for a scleral lens. Many thanks.

Hi Steve,
I asked Ken this question and his answer was 'about a year'. I was fitted with sclerals 14 months ago. One had to be relaced after 6 months because the plastic broke down. The other is still going strong. I plan to ask about replacing it at my next appointment in January.
Best wishes, Janet
