I am 56. It must be dreadful to live with all this.
This is the right place to come. You do have a right to a second opinion, you are in control of what happens.
Why not take it one step at a time. if there is something looming that scares you, focus on something beyond the scary event.
(eg arrange a party or a meeting with friends for the day after your appointment. Look forward to the meeting, party or even lunch and do not think about the scary thing that comes between.
