Hi everyone,
I’m due to have a partial graft (in my left eye) at the start of June of this year.
Just have a few questions,
I’m due to go to Greece in august, is this possible with the stitches in (I assume I will be having stitches) etc.?
What’s the average length of time from work?
Any feedback would be appreciated
Cheers Matt

Welcome to the forum!
Very hard to say if you could go in all honesty as alot depends on how well the procedure goes and how well the eye settles. Seeing as though its some 8 weeks after your op; I would suspect that you may be ok...however....as always, its best to get confirmation from the consultant. Only things you will need to be aware of at the holiday destination is, where the emergency eye unit is, ensure you take enough of the recovery drops (Maxidex, FML, Chloramphenical etc)

Matt
welcome!
Jay is right, and I agree entirely with what he says. the problem is that we are all so different that it is hard to say with any degree of confidence what will be the outcome for any one of us.
I'd tell my ophthaomologist that I had travel plans and ask if there is any reason why I ought to change them.
Also, let your travel insurer know.
All the best

Hi Matt,
Agree with earlier posts, but also remember you still won't be able to swim at that stage because of the risk of infection. Beaches can be tricky places to be, especially if it's windy. I've managed 2 corneal abrasions as a result of getting sand under my lens. I know you probably won't be wearing a lens at this stage, but it's something to consider. Might mess up a nice Greek holiday!
Your insurers will probably exclude cover for your eye condition.

Thank you for all replies.... and hello. Glad i've found a forum where i'll be able to chat for the 8 weeks or so and watch the Football. (wooo hooo)
Im not too worried about the sea/sand or pool just need to make sure I can fly. Don't want to miss the wedding....
How difficult is it to get insurance with KC and how much more expensive is it to the normal prices?
Thanks

I don't know that it is difficult to get insurance, you just have to report it to the insurance company.
A Greek wedding? wonderful! I once presided at the marriage of a Greek bride with a Norewgian Groom. She was Orthodox, he was Lutheran. I am a Presbyterian, so we got on fine
We incorpoated bits of all three marriage traditions in the service.
But outside it was raining! (The service was in Glasgow).
Ah well, we had a bit of Greece and a bit of Norway as well as Scotland

Hehe Andrew that all sounds like fun except for the weather, although as celts we shouldn't expect any different!!
I have had a partial graft as well and have been told that it is all ok to fly. I was more worried about the pressures during flying than the thoughts of swimming although i wasn't long in asking that one either!!
Everyone is different though as the others have said and you should let your surgeon know as he is best to advise you. Just take care with everything, take loads of eye drops, get good insurance, i haven't had to do that yet but i think it is all ok so long as you declare it, and lastly but most important HAVE FUN!!!
Check in here and let us know how you're doing!! And also how is your vision now?!
