Lens disaster last night

Hi all.

Bit of a disaster last evening.

Popped my lenses out as per normal at about 9pm.

Started my usual cleaning routine, bit of saline, gentle rubbing between the thumb and forfinger.....did the left one, fine and into the cleaning solution. Started the right one and it disintegrated into about 6 small pieces in my hand.

Aaaaarrrrggghhhhh!

Thoroughly miserable, didn't realise just how dependent you become on the things.

Anyway, first thing this morning, was down at the opticians beating on their door....must have looked stressed, as they took me in and ordered a new right lens with a big urgent for Kerataconus label on it!

Thought about thanking the large plant next to the receptionist for effect, but they'd done all they could by then so thanked them and am now back in the office praying that the lens will be here tomorrow as hoped for!

Think I'll have to pay for the lens but don't really care, just want my vision back.

I'm wearing my old specs now which seems just awful, great cumbersome affairs. You just get so used to lenses and the freedom they give.

Anyway, gotta struggle through today now (working till 8pm :( ), lets just hope the lens arrives tomorrow!

Just think of all the people that you have always wanted to walk into.

Now you can just for today and you have the perfect excuse.

Or that person in the office you have been dying to spill coffee (or tea) on. They really cannot blame you if you cannot see them.

Ooooh I bet you must have paniked!

I think we all been there in one shape or another but losing it and finding the lens, and it shattering is a slightly different feeling lol!...The latter being the worse!

Glad to see you got another ordered!!

Paul,

Quick find a bin or a pile of paper to trip over and claim agains the company :D

Works for sighted people who work for Norwich Union. Person walking to talk to a friend otherside of the office tripped on a pile of accident claim forms. Settled out of court for an undisclosed sum :x Apparently Norwhich Union were neglegent in mainting clear acces ways despite the pile of claims forms being next to someones desk.

What none of the papers reported was the persons quality of vision, as far as I am concerned they should have been looking where they were going. Plus if they work with computers all day they should have taken advantage of company policy and had an eye test to ensure they had the best of vision. Raises many questions, if they had poor eye sight corectable by glasses or lenses, were they using them at the time?

World gone crazy or is it just me?

Rant over, time for work.

You'd be amazed what goes on Gareth....you'd be amazed.

Thanks everyone for your cheery thoughts. Yes I might just have a little fun with my predicament later on.

Anyone I'd like to bump into Drew....well certainly, but I'm a married man  !!!

Anyway, the specs are doing their job just about, small headache coming on but coping just.....

Paul

any idea how long before you get a replacement.

I used to keep a recent lens (the one before my fit changed) for use as a spare in emergencies.

That's happened to me with my lens, now I always have a spare because it can take 2 weeks or longer to get a new one and there's only so many people I can pour coffee over!

Good plan with the spare lens....this is my first set though....but I will remember that.

Should have a new one within a few days apparently! :D

Phew....got my new lens at last.

Took them 3 1/2 days which I guess was quite urgent.

Funny on Monday I didn't care about the cost, but today £60.00 seems like a lot of money! :?
