who is the specialist in Bradford - we live in Huddersfield and are looking for someone not too far away. We go to Bradford Uni (where they 1st diagnosed KC) as well as our local optician at the moment.

I live in Barnsley, and was diagnosed with KC about a year ago.
To give a brief history, I went to my optician because I couldn't see. He did a thorough examination and said that he thought it was KC. He then referred me to my GP, who refered me to the local opthalmology department. The opthalmologist confirmed that it was KC, and sent me back to my optician - very useful!
My optician is much more helpful and has quite a lot of experience in the treatment of KC. He also has contact with a lens manufacturer in Manchester who can make 'awkward' lenses. He took me over to Manchester (on his day off!) to see the contact lens mechanic. They have a computer system that takes lots of pictures of your cornea, and then makes a lens to fit the shape. The lenses certainly weren't cheap, but I have 6/6 vision in both eyes with them in.
The optician also has branches in Bradford and Wakefield. I can give you the details if it would be helpful.

CONGRATULATIONS AND WELL DONE TO ALL THE WALKERS!!!
I think everyone who took part will agree that it was good fun, we got to meet lots of new people, put faces to names and ultimately hopefully we have raised a good deal of money for the KC Group (the blisters and aching feet are already forgotten!)
I would like to give a special mention to Mike and Anne who, between them, have walked an amazing amount of miles. Don't know how you did it, but well done to you both and what an achievement!
As Tony says, now is the time to collect in all the money, so if you have got sponsors or wish to donate some dosh, then please send your cheques to PO Box 26251, London W3 9WQ. Cheques should be made payable to the Keratoconus Group. Thank you. The total amount raised will be advised once all the money has been collected.
More photos will be coming on to the KC website so watch that space! Take care. SUE

Hello, can anyone help? I've had both corneas grafted, wear a lens in one eye in which most of my vision is concentrated, the other eye is not that great and is prone to double vision. This is causing me problems in dance class, I can't pirouette on my bad eye side and can't work out how to adjust my focus or whether it's simply not possible to turn on that side. Any suggestions welcomed!

Hi Louise, What lens do you wear in your good eye - is it a corneal or a scleral? Have scleral lenses been offered to you post-graft? If not, they might be worth a try - you might be able to wear lenses in both eyes then.

No, I didn't. I don't have a camera. What with the flashes
being sooooooo painful I keep as far away from cameras as I
can....!!
Actually, my dad and my sister are both keen photographers - and I'm sure wouldn't find it necessary to use a flash anything like as ubiquitously as some folks do.... maybe they (my dad and
sister) just know a bit more about photography than just
pointing and clicking?! I was starting to get interested at age about 13-ish and my dad was trying to teach me... loved the dark room stuff, could never tell when his new camera was in focus -
it had a system where the viewfinder showed two images and you
adjusted the focus until they coincided exactly and you could
only see one image. At least, that was the theory..... it
wasn't till a few months later that we found the problem was
called Keratoconus, but meanwhile I'd got more than fed up with
trying to learn about photography!
