That sounds like a response to being always squinting and
holding your head and neck at a strange angle. Please remember
to take rests from the screen, straighten and relax your neck
and shoulders, give the muscles a rub (or get someone else to,
if you can).

I see the world out
of my left eye. The right eye sees nothing but a white blur

Al, did this start fairly recently? - did it go all white and
blurry fairly quickly, and was it sore? And how long has it
been white??

I'm not trying to diagnose you by email, you understand!! - but
"white blur" sounds alarming like something called a "hydrops",
which we've discussed on this list/page before. there's some
info about hydrops elsewhere on the KC group site; I suggest you take a look at it and see if it sounds at all familiar.

Lastly (for now, at least!) have you thought of, or tried, any
special softwre to make your computer easier to use? - for
example, there is software that can enlarge, change the colours, change the mouse pointers, etc, and/or speak to you. Do you
have the "accessibility options" loaded on your PC, and can you
try them out? Can you get a demo of any of the special software packages (Zoomtext in one; the other I know of in the UK is
called Lunar).

Good luck!

Surely using other types of vleaners like washing up

You have to rinse the fairy liquid off the lens after you've
cleaned it and before you put it in!! - just like you do with
the Boston cleaner or similar. Yes, of course it would sting if you put the lens in your eye with cleaner all over it - with
washing up liquid or that Boston stuff. But you'd be doing that anyway, wouldn't you?

Was wondering would it be any use wiping hem with fragrance
free tissues

Errr...? Do you mean you're drying them on scented tissues at
the moment? Personally, I'd always use the tissue without the
perfume, as they set off my hay fever, asthma, you name it. So
maybe a change a change to the perfume free variety may help you too.

Rosie
sorry to hear about all the problems .
What type of new lens was it that triggered it all?
Do you think that was a trigger or were there other things changing too?

Dear Kate
Thank you so much for replying. I have only just found this website and it has been such a relief to know there are other people out there who probably understand! It sounds ill-informed but I don't know exactly what type of lens it was. It was a "new" one, designed to fit over corneal grafts and apparently has a step in it to fit over the graft. I was fitted for the lens at the contact lens clinic and then it was posted to me to try out over a few weeks before the next visit. I only wore it a few times, for a few hours, because it was pretty uncomfortable but also I was worried that my vision was very blurred for up to 24 hours after wearing. I'd tried so many different lenses over the last six years but not had the same problems. The vision in my eye had been deteriorating over the previous year and I'd had five changes in glasses prescription but no pain or discomfort. I can't help linking the pain to the lens because it began after I'd worn the lens for a few hours prior to the clinic check. They did notice some change then in my cornea and advised me not to wear the lens again. The person who fitted it said at one point that it seemed too much of a coincidence for the problems not to be related to the lens, but was unable to explain it. He did suggest tight lens syndrome at one point, or that perhaps the lens had triggered some problem in the donor material. Sorry to write such a long reply, but thank you for your interest. with best wishes

Dear Rosie,

That sounds horrid for you! Fraid I've no idea what the problem is; lots of best wishes with it, and hope you get it all sorted
out. Hang in there!

As for the job: stick in there too. Can you get some special
equipment that will help? - eg. talking computer, magnification/
colour change software?? Try invoking the DDA with your
employer; you might be able to get funding for any helpful
equipment under the access to work scheme. RNIB and/or the
Disability employment Advisor at your local job centre should be able to help. Good luck!
