Update on Eyes!
Andrew,
I'm studying Modern History and Politics (for my sins) in Queens. I did do a sociology as a module in one semester last year but after studying it 4 A'Level, decided i'd had enough!
Well i'm back in belfast after spendin the wkend at home (working!) delaying as long as i can b4 i hit the books again. My left eye is killing me! i feel as if there is something in my eye but ther def isn't, think i probably over did with the wearing time the past couple weeks and gna have to slow down a bit 4 a while! anyone else find that when they need their lenses most - the suddenly become sore????? so irratating!
Posted my application this morning! Can't w8 2 hit the roads
Think i've delayed long enough, i better go learn about the Plantations

LOL! I used to do anything to avoid studying so i know how you feel!!
Yes lenses are always worse when we really need them although i think this is more due to the fact that we are under stress and are more conscious of it. Just be careful not to overdo the wearing time as you are going to need them more for the exams!
Wishing you the best of luck and hoping you are on the roads soon!

You can get "staining" on your corneas if you wear lenses too long. If the feeling that there is some foreign body in your eye persists, maybe a visit to your doc would be a good idea. I used to need eye drops to help recovery if I had been over doing lens time.
All the best with the plantations.

Emma,
This really sounds like the "good old" GED/BED syndrome.
Check out Dr. Schendowich's article on Good Eye Days and Bad Eye Days for more details. I'd recommend everyone who wears contact lenses of any description to read this!

Thanks for that John!
Yes i am sure that as with many here we are all aware of BED's!!!!! I know exactly why i can't wear a lens and it is usually because i was overwearing it the day before.
Now i try my hardest to limit my wearing time and don't wear them around the house or when i am off work. This does cause a lot of problems though as i then can't see to do anything! But you know the house work doesn't seem so bad when you can't see the dust! LMAO!!
My general feeling is that i desperately need to be able to see for work and while i work twelve hour shifts with an hours travel either side that this is a very long time to wear lenses. So even though i can't see outside of work i know that the few days off give my eye a break for when i do return. I have also been granted a night off in between my week of seven nights which lets me leave my lens out for a nice break as by the end of the third night my eye is starting to protest!
Hoping that others here can overcome BED's and learn how long they can safely wear their lenses as everyone is so different with this.
Thanks again, Sweet X x X

15 hours is far more than I ever managed!
If you have a day when you will have prolongued wear, try to give your eyes a time without lenses in the middle of the day. I used to try to remove mine at lunch time.)
I used to reckon that if I managed eight hours, then an hour and a half break, I could go another five or six hours. But this comes with a health warning .. your eyes are different, the viscosity of your tears, the steepness of your cones, the level of dryness of your eyes etc are all unique to you.
The experience of other people can be a rough guide, but should not be taken as authoritative for you.
That said, all the best with the Politics and Mod Hist. You are probably now wishing you had not dropped Sociology

Emma,
We are all different, my optom reconded 8 hours, but I did go upto 12 and that was comfortable.
That has not been possible for some time, but using lubricating eye drops has really helped, but I still need to remove my lenses 1 - 3 hour intervals to use the drops with a 30 minute lens wear break when I have my lunch. On a good day, this is giving a total of 16 hours and a bad day is 12 hours.
So I can match what you do, but I do have to exrend my day a wee bit.
Going to discuss this with the optom today as it seems the only way to maintain my sight. Taken 4 weeks of experimentation to achieve this, will post more details once I get back from the hospital.
