Found a few with the same problem but no solution.

Dont want to misdirect you, but if you have or can create a loadStyleSheet function or similar you could try attaching/increasing the timeout value.

The latest version of the software (RC5) has fixed a number of "bugs". One of them looked familiar, and I therefore played with our installed release (RC4) last night.

The reason why some people are badly affected by it, and others are not is that it seems that IE6 cannot cope with compressed stylesheets properly, though it copes fine with compressed HTML.

So I turned off compression last night in total, and that indeed seems to have (hopefully) fixed people's issues. With compression turned off though, people may notice a slight speed decrease. I'll experiment with turning compression back on after I install RC5 (which fixes this particular "bug" by defeating the compression of stylesheets whilst still compressing the HTML).

Can anyone else who's had problems please confirm also that they are OK now?

With regards to speed, my works PC which is 2 years older than my home pc's, there is no difference (well not noticable) in speed between the two.

Tried the works lap top which is only couple months old and again no noticable change in speed.

John - yes, whatever you did has fixed the problem of getting different screen versions all the time. Thank you! Speed is a bit slower, but that's a small price to pay.
My one regret now is that we seem to have lost the brilliant legibility of the old forum. I find the white on red at the top of the screen hard to make out - and that's where the events are advertised, so I wonder if others have the same problem. And I don't know if the font is different to the old one, or whether it's 'greyer' than the black we used to have, or whether it's also the effect of the pale blue and pale pink background or a combination of all of these. But the net effect is that I find it all a bit harder to read than before (OK, I know, I'm also getting 'greyer' and older!) How do others feel?
I'm sorry if I seem to be complaining - you do so much for the forum and I'm sure everyone here will join me in saying how much we appreciate all your hard work. My problem is I want perfection (and perfect vision)!

Yes Anne, the standard fonts do appear to be a little smaller than the ones we had before. I am still trying to improve the legibility of the site overall, whilst keeping the look modern and smart.

Trouble is, the new forum uses much more clever techniques to build the screen, which are more efficient in use, but trickier to customise. I'm sure I'll get there in the end though

I don't know if it's my computer or the new forum software, but sometimes I now get odd strings of letters where once I'd have seen a letter or symbol. Here is an excample:

I think that's down to the conversion from the old software (if it's an old message) or a setting on the Mac if it's a new message.

When we converted to the new software, any accented characters were corrupted, and would appear as 2-4 "fake" characters instead. This is because the conversion couldn't handle the Unicode characters correctly, and is a fault of the database. If your Mac can't handle unicode properly, you'd see one of these strings instead of an accented character. For example, this is an e-acute: é.

I think it must be an old message that is being rendered oddly by the new software. My Mac copes with accented letters: é for example, and Greek letters ∑ (signa) π (pi) etc.
