I have to agree with Samba.
It is not so much the subject of the thread which bothered me but the "in your face" way in which it was presented.
If this guy was genuine his approach would, in my opinion, have been quite different and he would have introduced himself in the first instance in a more conventional and usual way. I think this is something Sweet suggested early on.
It is undoubtedly a subject which can be discussed but I really think the manner of the presentation suggests WIND UP.
I appreciate that some of our senior forum members don't agree with me and indeed Gareth appears to have information of which I am not aware but even with it I suspect I would not be convinced by it.
By all means let's discuss whether masturbation causes or exacerbates KC and perhaps Reality has done us a service in this respect.
For my part I am very been disappointed that Reality has been given credibility by this forum.

I'm not sure about this one! But if it was a wind up then i would guess he did it to upset the balance on the forum. Some people just love a good row, and if its about them all the attention it brings.

I don't know if things are so straight forward. People come looking for the forum at different stages and for different reasons. I find it quite plausible that a person would come with a crisis and seek help in a direct way.

If we remain civil - an don't get wound up then by definition it is not a wind up. If you scroll through this discussion I think you will find, as I have, that it is considered, informative and thought provoking. The starting point was just that.

May be Anne; a bit like a townie moving to a sleepy village and then stirring things up.
He has cetainly succeeded in ruffling our feathers ( well at least mine!).
He certainly got a reaction and probably had a bit of fun at our expense

I agree Brigid, it has been thought provoking but the manner in which this subject was raised was imho totally over the top.
Perhaps Reality is for real and some may think he is a breath of fresh air. I don't and I was never taken in by Jose Mourinho either!

Yeah, but i am really not interested in how many times someone masturbates in a week.

Then again it could make a interesting poll!!

Jayuk - you are right of course. we won the football (not that you would have guessed that from the aftermatch analysis!) and we are, mostly, British, so of course sex makes us giggle (Hurrah for seaside post cards and carry on films :D )

Michael, I am taken in by many things, I consider my openness and willingness to trust people to be who they claim to be as an asset (I still don't understand why people got so upset by Millie Vanillie - i didn't like it but their music seemed the same who ever was singing it. hey ho). Not everyone sees it this way though and a teenage trip round Europe is still occaisionally refered to by friends as "gullible's travels" I do however understand why you are more wary and accept that you may have good cause.

A few years ago, my friends brother tried to join a Star Trek forum. He had a moderate form of autism and so this was a big thing for him to do. His mother monitored closely at first and all seemed well then one day Sam became very agitiated and up set. His distress lasted several days before the family managed to tease out of him that a forum member had written something nasty about him. I am not saying this is the case here but I feel a duty to be careful. I always think well if it were Sam, what would I want people to say. Sam died a few months ago of unrelated heart failure so I maybe being over sensitive.

I am really not cross with anyone, and certainly not up for a fight so if I have caused offence then I am really sorry and would like very much to take up Jay's offer of a group hug if is still available

Brigid, I too am very gullible and my friend across the a road is a practical joker and i always fall for his storys even though I should know that it is 99% certain he is having me on.
Somehow Reality has touched a raw nerve.
The story about Sam is truly sad. I have always tried to treat others in the same way that I wish to be treated and have no wish to offend anybody.
However, quite simply I feel that Reality has ignored the fact that a lot of people (particularly stangers) could find the content and manner of his post as being offensive. I think that if he was sincere his post would have been couched in a more sensitive way. We may become his friends but the fact is we are strangers and whilst I have no objections to the actual question, it is the graphic way in which it has been couched which I object to as I consider he was seeking to stir things up.
He could have raised the question in a way which would not have caused me and one or two others to jump up and down.
If he is genuine and acknowledges my concerns then I will gladly welcome him to the forum and we can have a constructive dialogue.
I have no problems discussing masturbation and KC if he can convince me he is the genuine article.
In that regard he could have used his real name as he appears not to have any inhibitions.
