This is interesting because I wasn't told about exercise/lifting with EITHER graft. Particularly relevant to my first when I think back because at that time I was working in theatres as a trainee ODA which involves lifting patients on and off the theatre table.

Many thanks for all your advice and support. My surgeon, who does marathons said I could start running 3 wks post op. I've only been walking the past few weeks, max 6 miles but am committed to do the marathon this year as I have a golden bond place with Guide Dogs and together with my hubby who is running am trying to raise £3650 - that supports one partnership for a year. I am quite prepared to walk the whole marathon, which may take towards 7 hours and am definately taking this week off. With regard to lifting I have 2 horses and have been lifing feed bags (about 1/2 cwt) for the past few weeks. With regard to marital you know whatting I was told not to for 6 weeks. Poor hubby, having to help with the horses who make him sneeze, drive me everywhere and no er hem!!

I know what you mean about feed bags, about 3 weeks post op, I was back on the farm where I had an evening job milking and the saturday job doing whatever needed doing on the farm. This was until after my A levels and found I was too thick to train as a vet :(

On the other, try telling a hormone filled 17 year old not too :D

I saw my consultant 1 week after my recent graft. He told me I could resume all activities, only to avoid sports etc that may risk a blow to the eye. It never crossed my mind to ask about sex! I'm 6 weeks post graft now but still not exerting myself too much (not a one for excessive exercise anyway), may give the gym a whirl next month. At my 5 week check up I did ask about washing my face normally and if it was OK to fly, fine to do both.

Val.

If you are recently wed to the most attractive, sexy, fantastic, sweet, good and lovable girl ever to exist on earth, sex IS definitely an issue! :)

I think sex is ok at the 3-5 week mark...as I remember a long winded post on this on a previous board...as long as your not swinging from the lights and sumersaulting onto the bed youll more than likely be ok...however always best to get the all clear from the Docs lol

Didn't mean sex wasn't an issue! LOL Just mean't I didn't even think of it being off the agenda (even after 25 years together!). But I know what you mean, my hubby had an op about six years ago, which mean't no sex for a while, this was a MAJOR problem. Especially for him as he's married to the most irresistable woman in the world(me!).

I did wait a couple of weeks, but not into swinging from the chandeliers anyway. I'd probably pull the ceiling down!

Errr..... Lisa.......

You've just had a transplant op.
Patients who've had transplants are put on immunosupporessing drugs - to suppress the immune system's natural desire to fight off the foreign transplanted material.
You may also be on steroids? - taking steroids reduces your resistance to viral infections.

They may be eyedrops, but no part of the body is 100% cut off from the rest of it.

If you've injured a glute, please do as they say and rest it.

Hope you're feeling better soon - I've still got the tail end of a cough that started just after Christmas.
(I blame waiting around inthe cold for the start of a riding lesson. Had to cancel the next couple. Have gone back now - trying to get fat old Crystal to do some decent trot work is enough to keep me very nicely warm!!)

Per You set yourself up for lots of women to shoot yourdown! Never mind, it could have been worse: it could have been jay, or gareth, or Rob or .... or me!

Rosemary, It's good to know you are getting back to the things you enjoy. Is Chrystal your horse or does she belong to the riding school?
