Sally. Well done on the extension. I used to work in a University, and have always found academics very happy to be flexible when it comes to people with any sort of disability.

As to your experience with your GP, Optometrist and hospital A&E I don't know what to say. One stumbles on through life bouncing warm and friendly feelings off people and institutions, and then find that those warm and friendly feelings are not always reciprocated.

It would be bad enough to have this sort of thing happen to oneself, but to learn of it happening to somebody else: that is the most difficult thing to take! By all means send your article, but do more than send it to the junior doc concerned, send it to the hospital administrator!

Yours aye

Andrew

Sorry you have conjunctivitis Sally, but in case it might be relevant to anyone else reactions to drops can be as uncomfortable as an infection and easily missed. I used to react to the preservatives in drops long time ago.
Hope yours clears up soon so you can get your lens back in. Very poor treatment in A&E - cc your letter to the head of the dept and chief exec.

If you have an allergy to the preservatives in eye drips you can usually get the same drops in preservative free "minims' (little individually wrapped eye drops).
