£3,000?!?!?....I would be intrigued to see how these prices are decided upon.
Oh well!...I think if you can, going to Dresden would be the ideal choice for this Treatment at this stage of its lifecycle; why?
a) Pioneers of this procedure
b) you are treated by the people whom invented it
c) they have vast amount of experience
Plus at 500 euros per eye its a heck of alot cheaper even with flights and accomadation!
However, I am sure not all can do this..and Im equallty sure the people whom are going to be doing this are skilled/trained in performing it.
Just my 2 pence worth on this!
Oh the other place is Centre For Sight

thanks for that Jayuk. I did wonder why London Vision Charged so much as well. At the time of my consultation I was told that they are the only ones offering this "very new" treatment and that not many people knew about it, strange they don't mention it at all in their website -- glad I discovered this forum - and now I realise thats not the case.
I will seriously consider Dresden now if I decide to go ahead with the treatment..
Seen on Centre for sight website that they are still waiting for the treatments approval though.

C3R attempt
I've been dignose about 3 years ago with mild KC I was 29 y-o. I can still have have a functionnal life with glasses even if my vision is not completely corrected. But,even if I'm in my early thirties it seems that the condition is not stable and keeps on degenerating. So I decided to give it a shot with the C3R.
The lack of long term results worries me but it seems that early threatments in the KC process could avoid more invasive solutions in the future.
I will get the treatment this coming Friday with Dr. Boxer Wachler in California.

I'm concious I'm taking a risk and this is why I want to share my experience with you.
If everything goes well I guess this could become another positive feedback that could bring hope to others who struggle with this unsual disease.
I guess I could use some of those myself at this point.
Wish me luck.
Eric
PS: I guess we could create another topic that keeps track of the progresses of people who wants to share their experience with the treatment. It would help to get a better idea on how this option evolves over time.

Let us know how it goes....
I know the Boxer Wachler was one of the first in the USA to offer this, however his method did encourage Intacs as well? Are you going to be doing this?
Would be could to get info from your pre and post treatment topography?

thanks for sharing that elalumie. I've been to the Box's website and they really praise the C3R treatment combined with intacs.
I quite agree with jayuk, think we should set up a topic for this treatment and especially for newly diagnosed cases that could really benefit from C3R before further degeneration of the cornea.
I've considered C3r and I must say that Iam really tempted to go along with it mainly because I've seen my KC get worse and worse with time -- a transplant really freaks me off!!.
Hey Jayuk, how much initial screening do they do in Dresden?. I just received a call from London vision clinic where I've considered undertaking the C3R procedure and been told that I need to go for further external back of the eye cell examination.

Hi
I am not sure why you need back of the eye screening; unless of course they did one initially and have noticed something?
In Dresden they did it over 2 days...Day one was a full eval, with measurements, scans etc, Then you get told about the procedure, what happens, what youll feel etc...total one hour I was there
Day two is the procedure......total One hour i was there.

C3R with Intacs
When I meet Dr. Boxer Wachler, he didn't recommended the Intacts in my case since I'm not in an "advance stage". It seems I should be ok with soft lenses afterward.
He suggested me to approach this in a progessive way (step by step).
I didn't feel he was trying to sell me anything. He took the time to explain to me what it is and how it works and also encouraged me to do my own research in order to make my own opinion.
Jayuk, regarding the topography infos I will check my file and will get back to you.
