Another update
Yesterday I saw the opthalmologist at the hospital. First of all he took an updated topography of my eye. The surface is very uneven and there are 2 raised areas on it. He said these could cause problems with fitting a lens. He was concerned that I'd been sent so early after having the stitches removed (2 1/2 weeks) so put fluorescein in to check the condition of my eye. He said the cornea hasn't fully healed from having the stitches out and it would not be wise to put a lens in. So it ended up a bit of a wasted journey but never mind. I now know that I can't have glasses because of the state of the cornea. The opthalmologist is going to try a Rose K lens (means nothing to me!) first but I may need to have a mini-scleral (which I've had before). So I now need to go back in a months time when hopefully the cornea has healed enough to try out some lenses.

Hope it all went well. Reading what some of you guys have gone through makes me realise how simple my surgery has been!

Yesterday I went back for another appointment with the hospital opthalmologist. He was really pleased with how much my eye had healed since the last visit and said it would be fine to fit a lens.

So... the trialling of lenses began! After the 3rd attempt he found one that he thinks will be a good fit. Then onto reading the chart.... I was thrilled to be able to read 10 line down!!! :D So now the lens is on order and I just have to wait.

When I was 18 and I got my first pair of contact lenses I was so excited but now I know the hassle they can cause and am not excited at all. On the bright side it'll be good to be finally have good vision out of this eye. :)

That sounds like much better news, Joanne. All the best with the new lens when it arrives!
