Thanks Lynn,

Only stopped the systane as hospital prescribed Celluvisc with the anti-inflamatory drops. Asked about the Systane, but they were unsure of its compatability with the anti-inflamatory but they using them with Celuvisc was OK so went on their advise.

Building up the time nicely, just the outer eyelids that are feeling dry at the moment so going to try camomile tea and the camomile base makeup remover that was recomended to me by a nice lady at the confrence.

Who know's if this works I can start reliving the glam rock days!

systane alternative

Postby Helen Turner » Thu 21 Jul 2005 1:44 pm

I have used systane on RGP's and found that 'refresh contacts' work sooo much better as they are sealed in seperate little vials. Not really expensive either. Or theres a similar thing by 'blink'. I find they give more relief to tired or sore eyes and give more wear time than systane. They feel kinda cool and a lot fresher.
Not sure if you can use them with sclerals though, my contact lens guy says not really.

Helen...

Drops for dry eyes tend to be a touch individual...all the drops you have mentioned are good...

The reason I go on about Systane is that it works really well for many people who cannot get any relief from the products you mention.

So basically.. if you have no problem with the solution you use, there is no need to change!

I found that Systane has the most long lasting effect compared to othter products I have tried including other products from Alcone and others like Baush and Lomb refresher and Novaritis Genteal. I would recommend anyone who has doubts to try it and decide for him/herslef.
