As a registered charity we can only pursue purposes that are legally charitable. Political, or partisan, purposes are not legally charitable and if our website was to become populated by such it is conceivable that the Charity Commission could shut the website down following a public complaint.

There is of course also the possibility that the Charity Commission could withdraw the Charity status of the group - which would have disastrous consequences for the financial aspects of the group too. And that could happen without the Charity being taken to court on a Libel issue. I am sure none of the members would want that

Feedback

Postby Matt Allgood » Thu 26 Jul 2007 7:55 am

Quite.

Thanks to everyone for their contribution to this discussion, which has highlighted the responsibilities of posters on this Forum and those of KC Group trustees.

The KC Group is conducting a review of the management of the Forum shortly, taking into account good practice from similar voluntary sector online forums.

I'm happy to receive any constructive feedback on the overall management of the Forum, to assist the review. Perhaps you could e-mail me at Matthew.Allgood@biglotteryfund.org.uk no later than 23rd August for this purpose.

Many thanks
