I also suffer from bright light hurting my eyes,Do you wear your lenses longer than you should do,I was suffering from all kinds of weird and wonderfull happening with my eyes i was wearing them 16 hours a day but since i changed to wearing them 8 hours a day my eyes feel totally different now, my consultant had lenses made for me really really dark like sunglasses, and now i can see fine in bright light only problem is is that when i need to be fitted for new lenses i have to wear my clear ones.
But good luck,GET further checks done by a consultant at your local eye hospital....

Yes your GP can certainly refer you to a sensible contact lens clinic. And, for me, when Bristol Eye Hospital could not fit me with scleral lenses, they referred me on to Oxford Eye Hospital. All on the NHS at approx. 46 pounds per lens. Also, far better to go to a department which sees a lot of KC.

Get your GP to refer you to Sunderland Eye Infirmary. They have a huge knowledge of KC. My consultant is Mr Morgan and he's fantastic. Everyone in the contact lens clinic are brilliant as well. Apparently they have the highest number of people with KC at this hospital, so they've dealt with it many times before. Hope you have some luck.

I had a graft of my left eye in 1997 at St.James's in Leeds, but don't think that the full aftercare went entirely to plan, and consequently I'm now left with no clear vision in that eye, and no option to correct with any type of lens (according to my optician). I've now decided to go down the path of trying to get the graft done again, and I've heard that Sheffield has a very good eye department.
Can anybody let me know if they've heard the same, or if they can recommend any other hospitals. (I live in Grimsby)
Thanks

Hi folks.
Well, I had a large package today in an electoral Reform Society envelope, but originating from Moorfields.
It started off "Dear Member" but was addressed to "Mrs" Johnson.
Needless to say I was not impressed!!!!!!!! I hope this is not
going to be the usual standard of this new Foundation Hospital
setup's efficiency.
The contents is a load of stuff about the proposed new governor
system. I haven't read it all yet. Has anyone else got this,
and is anyone interested in standing?

Hi Rosemary,
It started off "Dear Member" but was addressed to "Mrs" Johnson. I dont quite understand why you think this is inefficient as we are all members of the Trust (and entitled to vote for a governor) after filling in the application form.
I received a pack yesterday as well, I have skimmed the document and need to read it fully. I may also log a few questions with the trust.
I need to seriously understand and look at how much time Ill need to commit. Being in full-time employment, full-time University Study (MSc) and a semi-lens intolerant KC patient I find myself fairly busy. Additionally it seems the governance meetings will take place during the week in the mornings or afternoons, which can be somewhat inconvenient (and costly) when in full-time employment.
I do though strongly believe we have a real opportunity here to make a difference and work together to improve the quality of healthcare at Moorfields. (Needless to say Moorfields is already known as one of the best eye hospitals in the world)
Rosemary, what region are you be thinking of representing or will you try for one of the three patient positions?
Id be happy to discuss this further or hear from anyone else considering this. Philip@mcgeoch.com
Regards,
Philip.
