Actually, the person you are referring to gave me a ride from Tucson, Arizona (where I flew into from Canada) to Dr. Swanson's office about a block across the U.S. Mexican border. He does his practise there because he has family there and wants to support the small town economy. The lady that drove me is a saint, and in fact - she was going to have the transplant but because of the C3-R/intacs combo she can now attain 20/30 and 20/16 and drive at night! It really was a miracle.
As for me, no I didnt have the C3-R done yet. Only the Intacs. Dr. Swanson said it would be best to wait at least 2 months to have it done to obtain the best results. I'll wait at least that.
What sort of vision do you have now? You had the C3-R done following a transplant last year correct?

In fact, would be good if she posted here about her whole journey as it was some unbelievable results!..Ill email her
I chose to go to Germany after all, for the C3R. My left eye is pretty advanced and extremely irregular thus my main purpose of having the C3R was to halt the KC and potentially avoid Hydrops; thus allowing me to have a partial graft this year (which in turn would allow me to have both my eyes grafted, with one less likely to reject anytime in the future; if at all)
I havent put a lens in that eye since the treatment. The Topographies have been mixed....3 weeks post treatment the topography showed 52D from 58 prior to the treatment.
In december this figure went up to 56...I shall be having the eye topographed again in 2 weeks so will see what has happened.

Yes, both are being done however the experience and knowledge is very limited at the moment....even Intacs...and thats alleged to have been around for some 1.5 years in the UK...but I personally wouldnt get it done here........but thats me!

I know this is hard for you. Why not speak to your own Ophthalmologist and see what advice is given. Certainly doc Ramaesh (who spoke at the conference last year) is very up-beat about Intacs surgery. He works at Gartnavel Hospital in Glasgow. He was the surgeon who did my right eye graft.
On the other hand there is the advice of Jay, who is pretty well genned up on KC and available treatments.
In the end we each of us have to make our own decisions. this is of course right as we are the ones who live with the consequences of whatever we decide.
