Hi

This morning i have been prescribed glasses to go with my scleral lens.
The explanation given was that my scleral lens fixes the irregular astigmatism in my cornea, however i also have an astigmatism in the internal lens of my eye (the one that gets cateracts). The glasses fix the 'internal astigmatism'.
I am quite happy with this as i have not had any useful vision out of that eye for quite some time :D

I have been wearing ready readers with my lenses for years. My lens fitter rejigged my lenses in my early forties and when I couldnt read my computer screen sent me off to the supermarket for a cheapo pair and told me what strength to get. I started out with +1.5 and now am on +2.5.

At least I think I am. I have a new lens to try in the morning but luckily I have a drawerful of cheap ready readers because I have reached that magical age where my favourite phrase is 'Have you seen my Glasses?'

Thanks for the input peeps. I spoke to the hospital as I had not heard about the lenses they ordered ( they are chasing the manufacturer). They did say they could send them back if they are over powered. Think they can be tweaked a tad but I need to decide how much If any distance I want to give up. I can't have different lens powers for each eye (mono vision) as there is to much scaring on the right eye causing ghosting.

Pushed the boat out and bought the expensive pair from that well know supermarket as they are a bit more stylish  £10 . Problem I have to is remembering where I put them flippin things down.

I had a bit of sport at the weekend looking round the high street opticians  to get an idea of cost and current offers . Shop assistant "can I help you sir ?"   : GrandPaClanger "Well it's a bit complicated" . Somewhat amusing  watching them looking for an escape route when I told them I was wearing three contact and had KC  K what ?

Ian
