use trillian, more secure and stable than the Messenger s/w and it allows u to connect to all the main, MSN, Yahoo, IRC, AIM etc within one app ...

Anyway, I got an info pack and forms today to mail back, but I've been told I'll probably have to 'hope' some one drops out as all the spaces have been taken... but I hope to attend if I can.

Just showed this thread to the missus! She said if anyone at work posted what we do here we would have them on the discrimination act! :D

Reminds me of when I once took my mu to hospital, while getting her chemo, she spotted another patient she had not seen for sometime and completely out of character shouted 'OI, thought you were dead, haven't seen you for ages!' This had the whole cancer ward in stitches, me well I was soo

Anyway, it's a whole load diffrenet when you actually understand what everyone else is going through.

Like the dress code idea, think I will dust off the old black suit if I have not put too much weight on. Six months of dieting and I have gone from eight stone to eleven! Yup, the numbers are the correct way round. :D

Can't make it to conference this time. I had been looking forward to it, but now I have to work that day. Oh well! Have a good one.

me and chat

Postby Paul Morgan » Thu 19 May 2005 11:08 am

Sadly can't go...family commitments, would have loved to though.

I tell you what would be good though one day if any of you techies could sort this.

One of those on-line chat sessions.

If someone could sort an easy to use chat room - does this site have one (suitable for KC'ers), we could arrange a time that suited and have a chat together. Could maybe make it a weekly thing.

Many of us seem to be very like minded it would make a change from the Forum and would be great fun and more interactive.

There you go, I'm an ideas man, not an action man!!!

Ahh chatrooms, that I can do and I can host it on my server. I have a few options; browserbased, as you just login via your browser no other software needed which is probably the better way, althou I have more stable and securer options that I can use.

But I gather and depending on the website hosting service that this site has, there may well already be that option available and it just needs turned on, usefully find it in the admin cp area under 'plugins' or 'site extras'. There is even a phpBB chat addon (thats the flavour of forum software that this place uses) which isn't easy to setup ... I'd have to ask the webmaster here see whats what, but if anyone else is interested in regular real time chat, I'd be happy to set it up

knight,
might be worth dropping the admin an e-mail suggesting your capabilities and what you have to offer!
Would be a good place... i'm sure like any other chatroom there are security issues.. but this is something we probably could discuss as a group if the admin wnated suggestions!
e-mail him on
webmaster@keratoconus-group.org.uk
or
john@roundel.net

This all sounds really positive.

The real trick (after the tech' is sorted) will be to advertise planned sessions on here so we're all available.

Evenings are probably best..probably after 8pm for those of us with toddlers and babies to stop screaming!

Hi Paul,

The site does have a chatroom at the moment, but it's not very KC-friendly which we can't change because it's hosted elsewhere.

It is "on the list" for a future enhancement, but it's not a high priority at the moment. Thanks for the comments though.
John

John

IS it worth creating a brain storming thread from a user perspective....to give you more ideas on where the board should/could go?.....have had a number of ideas on areas we maybe should consider having.........
KC is about facing the challenges it creates rather than accepting the problems it generates -
