Computer threw a wobler so a partial post and this the proper one!

As what Mr Needham has put.

At a guess the MgO2 or Silver provides a surface where nucleation takes place, basically a rough surface for a bubble to form like champagne. The bubbles do perform a scouring action.

The Magnesium is itself unstable having 2 oxygens.

MgO2 + H2O2 = MgO + H2O + O2

There is a difference between a cleaner and a disinfectant. A cleaner will do just that clean debris from a lens, a disinfectant wil kill the bugs but may not clean the lens properly. All in one solutions do both, the two part systems are where we use the cleaner first and rubbing the lens between the thumb and forfinger provide the gentle abrasion to remove debris from the lens. Then the conditioner/wetting solution provides the disinfection and kills the bugs. Both may still result in protein residue being left which is why protein cleaner is recomnded to be used on a regular basis.

To be honest I am glad to be rid of these solutions now I am on silicone hydrogel soft lenses, just the one all in one cleaner and no protein remover. Overall, after 12 months soft lens wear I have saved over £150

Put champagne in a perfectly smooth glass (you can get silicone coatings) and the champagne ceases to bubble 8)

So a very good test of the quality of your glassware. :D
I might have to go out and buy some cava!

I've never used peroxide on my RGP of the last 20 years, I've always used Boston cleaner and soaking solution
