Speedy- I don't know much/anything about Falco mini-sclerals I'm afraid. Are they used in the UK?

Stephen- I have LOADS of interesting photos of both SynergEyes and SoClear lenses on awkward eyes including KC/grafts/INTACS etc, but I really don't know how to put them on here! Can anyone advise me?

If you have the photos online, just post the URL.

If the pics aren't online then perhaps they could be uploaded to a photo sharing website like www.flickr.com and the link posted here?

Just a thought!

Right, I THINK I've worked out how to share these pics... will give it a go, apologies in advance if it doesn't work!

First of all here are some pics of SoClear lenses fitted for KC. When the lenses are inserted for assessment they should be filled with saline and also some fluorescein, which is the orange dye your optician puts in your eyes to check the lens fit and to check the integrity of your cornea etc. When a blue light is shone onto the lens filled with fluorescein, it glows green. The more/brighter the green, the greater the more fluid and therefore the more distance there is between the lens and the eye. So if there is lots of green, as you see in these pics, you know the lens is vaulting the cornea and there is no heavy pressure on the apex of the cone. If there are and blacker areas it means the lens is touching the eye at that point.

It seems I am only allowed 3 images per post so will put them in seperate posts!

This next pic is of a SoClear fitted for a grafted KC eye:

These next pics are of SoClears used to fit a patient with INTACS in both eyes. He was previously wearing piggybacks with RoseK and finding them rather scratchy, with not-brilliant vision (6/12-). With this fit he could see about 6/9 with each eye, with much improved comfort.

Lastly here are a couple of pics of SynergEyes lenses, starting with a picture of the lens itself. The central RGP part of the lens should vault the cone (shown by the green pooling centrally) and the lens lands at the soft skirt, the idea of this being that this stabilises the lens and provides better comfort.

I hope these are interesting to some of you. It's not intended to be any kind of advertisement, they are simply one of the many options for keratoconic patients nowadays, and show you what your optometrist see's when they shine that horrible bright blue light into your eyes! I have some pics of other lenses such as corneal RGP's and possibly some piggyback pics too, if anyone wants to see them just let me know...

Regards and Christmas wishes to All!

those pictures are really interesting, especially as someone who has tried both styles of lenses, thou unsucessfully due to dry eye.
