Hi Rob,
I am from Basingstoke in Hampshire so if you want to chat I will PM my number over and you can ask what ever you want.

I had a full PK in Feb and have had what I consider to be a pretty easy ride, no complications or much pain at all.
Initially and for quite a few weeks post OP my vision was pretty good. Disappointingly my sight has got worse in the last 4 weeks but my consultant still seems very happy with my progress and says that these things will happen as the graft and your eye changes shape during recovery.
I too think you will struggle with the conference after 1 week, my eyes just ached so much, I found when I tried resting one by closing it the other soon shut and before i knew it I was snoring and dribbling in my chair.
PM me if you want my number
Regards
Chris

hello, I am now 4 months post op, only recently have I had a few issues, and had to go back to the hospital for extra drops.
I had something stuck under a stitch (a fibre or something) which caused irritation and something 'wore away' but i had some new drops and wore a patch for a few days, and now it is fine, However i have also discovered that any air conditioning is an absolute killer, as is driving for a long period, which i have to do for work every so often.
the vision is still rubbish, I wouldnt say blurry because its not, everyhting is there and sharp there's just three versions of it all! however through the old pin hole glasses its not bad at all!
i also am very light sensitive, in both eyes, used to that.

HI Tweezil1968
Glad to hear your feeling better, I am now nearly 2 weeks post op and vision has'nt changed still very blurry and watery, unfortunately my other eye with rgp lens has been causing me problems, don't know why but am waiting new lens from hospital to arrive soon.
I think the nerve endings in my op eye have started to regrow as when i pop my drops in it stings quite a bit which was'nt happening in the first week. The steriod tablets also leave horrible taste in my mouth and am forever belching etc !!!! sorry haha.
Are you back to work ? if so when did you go back ? Do u have one good eye ? Is your overall vision down? Was there an in balance etc ?

Hi Everyone
Its another week on and not much change really, My op eye seems to be more light sensitive and have a job keeping it open even with sunglasses on. Sometimes wish I had op in winter time with the dark evenings.
Got my occ health appointment on Thursday and am due to see Force medical officer to decide my future employment.
Bye for now
Bob

HI Melissa

I work in a Custody cell block dealing with sometimes violent prisoners, If I were to get a smack in the eye I could lose it, So hopefully they can find me something else in the Police force.

Wow. I suppose suggesting goggles is a bit stupid- you don't know when you will be hit and can't really wear them ALL the time. Well I hope they find something great for you to move to ...

I did think about Goggles, it may be an option so not a bad idea really, most of the time we know when a violent one is coming in, its the same with stab vests, we dont wear them all the time in custody only when we feel we need to, risk accessment.
Might have to look on the web for a good set of goggles.
