In 2005 I became intoerant of my RGP lenses, despite the fit being fine, to wear lenses for an hour was extremely painful. We tried many things and eventually eye drops and after trying several eye drops for at least 2 weeks each following the patient information leaflet I found Systane by Alcon worked best. I could get 2 hours comfortable lens wear before having to remove lenses for a top up dose.
Later I changed my diet and cut out drinks that may have dieretic properties and loads of caffeine. Now only have two cups decaff per day and at least 2 litres water per day. I have the odd glass of wine (never been much of a drinker), instead of fizzy drinks or fruit drinks I eat the whole fruit. Eat loads of natural yoghurts and other dairy products (as a treat I include dairy milk chocolate

Since that dietry change I found I could back off the eye drops and now use them once in the morning before putting lenses in and last thing at night.
My health has improved, lens wear is a regular 12 hours plus pain free and my KC has been stable since then.
Those that have been on the forum a while will recognise what I have written as you are not the first to suffer this and I know it has helped many and they have found different eye drops work best and a slightly different change to diet. I am unabvle to say if it has affected anyones KC progression, but it has atleast helped with lens wear.
VDU use and the office environment and such like will have a very big impact on your lens wear.
What is it you do for a living?
