DTee,
Lens intolerance is a possibility, I was told in 2005 I had become intolerant of RGP's, but afetr a lot of investigations by me and the hospital we could revers the effects with lubricating eye drops. It took about 3 months to find the ones that suited me which are Systane by Alcon and preservative free are better for me. I tried many drops which people recomend here and none of them worked, so just because what works for me may well agrevate the situation for you.
Very runny solutions which are realy saline can be used with lenses in, the more viscous ones (usually the lubricating eye drops) should be put in with lenses removed as they can build up a film over the lens and it looks like fog.
I used to get the hot feeling too and this was down to the tears not providing enough lubrication for the lens, so it rubbed the cornea causing discomfort and then went hot when the lens had dried on to the cornea. This meant tears could not flow properly under the lens so oxygenate the cornea.
You do need to call the optometrist to ensure the health of the cornea and make sure you are not causing harm.
All we have done here is share our experiences regarding the cause of what you describe and the solutions we found to overcome that.
CALL THE OPTOM NOW; BETTER TO BE SAFE!
Once again..
