The power has changed from -11.50 to +4.5

Michael
Just had a thought - does that mean that you need a lens for reading rather than distance? I don't know why but I always thought you could only get contact lenses for short sight.

As I need +3.0 for reading in my cataract eye (on top of my lenses) , I'm wondering whether I should try things the other way round - and then wear specs for distance. I find it so frustrating that I cannot read at all without a lens in and then when I have one in I still can't read without reading glasses on top.

Hhmm it is odd isn't it! My twin sister (who has KC as well) wears lenses to read when I wear lenses to see distance and can read without!

Try it and see what happens!!

The combined effect of graft and KC in my right eye has left me long sighted. My left eye as a result of the graft is short sighted. Both have astigmatism so lenses can be made to both situations.

Pat

I have worn reading glasses on top of my lenses for the last 10 years or so.

Before having the first cataract op I was given a choice of the type of interocular lens to be inserted; either for close up or for distance vision and I chose the former so I will continue to wear reading glasses for reading.

I believe a bifocal iol is also available.

Hi Elizabeth, it's good to hear from you.

I am sorry that you are still having problems.

Have you tried to get your Doctor to refer you to Moorfields? Remember, Ken Pullam said that he thought he could help you.

Michael

When they decide what lens to implant, the aim is to give you as near to 'natural'vision as possible. Maybe the change in your prescription is a sign of how close they came to getting it spot on.

I am pleased to say I am no longer a member of the "fed up" club.

I went to MEH and saw a delightful contact lens optician named Chloe who confirmed what I already new; the fit of the right lens is too tight and the lens is also sitting on the scar in the centre of my cornea. Chloe is changing me from a Rose K2 lens to a Jack Allen Profile lens which is a better fit for my eye.

I also had ghosting which I did point out at the time of my first fitting and Chloe, without any trouble whatsoever has solved that problem!

Unfortunately it could take up to six weeks before the new lens arrives.

I was scheduled to go back on 19 April for a fit for the left eye but Chloe not only dealt with my left eye as well but she also had a lens made up for me on the spot...well within 4 hours to be truthful. Can anybody beat that :D

I now have 6/6 vision (or will have when the replacement right lens arrives) and I am over the moon :D :D :D .

I cannot thank Chloe enough.

That's great news - just a shame you have got to wait so long for the new lens - but my second one was a Jack Allen lens too and it arrived in 2 weeks - keep fingers crossed yours does the same. Presumably the delightful Chloe will rush it through for you - just like she did for me...

How many moons are you over.....

PS. I was telling the truth. Really, honestly! :( And no I don't keep a diary - but elephants never forget!!! Well, not when they are sober! HeHe!
