Note to admins : Id probably remove\edit\disguise that email address once the intended person has got it, otherwise the bots trawling the internet boards will just autmate spam to it and multiply.....and the poor persons email box will suddenly get filled....again and again
KC is about facing the challenges it creates rather than accepting the problems it generates -

I was told by the "admins" to post emails... which I just hate doing because of the reasons just given... I did try to explain the trouble with emails on forums...
Anyway, Remy, before and after mini-ark Intacs don't work that good, its two different operations. They work in two different directions.
Sorry to hear the sclerals was tried and failed... did you get them tweaked at all? They may need some tweaking to fit just right.
Dalks are another good option
Then there is also Ferrara Rings to think about to.

any progress???
Remy,
I am from New York and have recently joined this forum, have kerataconus for 10 years and my eyes are really far progressed. I, too, am really curious to learn more information on Dr. Lombardi. I have contacted the National Kerataconus foundation in the US to try and learn of any hard facts as to why this procedure is not studied, researched, even attempted in the last 15 years that it has apparently been around. Who is the specialist that your boyfriend saw in New York? I have 2 here and they both seem well qualified to perform transplant surgery but I am still very nervous about it and would love to avoid it for as long as possible.
That's wonderful of you to go to these lengths to find information for him. It is so frustrating to be unable to see and researching/typing on a computer is a struggle, along with many others.
Regards,
Danielle

Hi everyone,
Thanks Danielle - he is actually my ex now!! Anyway I'm sure he'd be happy to tell you his doc in America - his e-mail is (I've edited it so it doesn't get spammed-remove all the spaces) elan @ welby .co. uk.
I think this Mini ARK sounds very promising, but as you say it is so frustrating that most of the case studies are in Italian!!
Best of luck with your research - I personally think there's nothing to loose by at least booking a consultation with Lombardi - from what I gather the method used to successfully stabilise or improve KC is very personal and different for everyone... and it seems a good option for a first choice as if it doesn't work you can still try another method - unlike transplants or intacs which lessen the chance of other options working after you have gone through with the procedures.
I also understand Lombardi's theory that contacts weaken the eye - especially eyes suffering with KC - to me it totally makes sense as the cornea is stretched and therefore thinner, so surely anything placed ontop would only irritate it further?
Anyway I'm hardly a specialist!
Once again good luck & all the best!
Remy xx
