I went to Specsavers today for a "teach". I can't say I have yet mastered the art of putting in and taking out the lenses but I am getting better at it.
What bothers me is the fact that when wearing the lenses my sight is not dramatically improved. Vision is better admittedly, but I was expecting more clarity. The right eye, the eye that I have kerataconus is not good at all. My vision is still very blurred and my eyes feel tearful.
She mentioned something about the lenses being "5 degrees out " when referring to my prescription. Maybe this is why I am struggling to focus.
My sight is far better with my 1.5 year old prescription glasses than it is at this moment with lenses. Will that improve when I get used to the lenses?. If not I think the best bet for me would be to return to Specsavers and have a chat with the optometrist.

When you initially start with lenses, vision can be slightly worse because your eyes water so much with suddenly having a lump of plastic inserted. The reflex action is to produce tears to wash them out.
As the lens wear increases, in most case vision improves.
After fitting my lenses and building up lens wear mine are 20 degrees out but I usually get 6/6, sometimes 6/5 which is perfect. Eyes do have the ability to adapt.
Get used to the lenses and if they still cause problems when you go for a check (usuallu 2 - 4 weeks after being given the lenses) and see if the problem is still there.
It can take several visits to get the fitting right, I had about three months retur visits to the hospital before I was allowed to leave with a pair of lenses due to several fittings. The ones I have are 2 years old and to me the vission is still spot on, I find out next tuesday.

I'm a bit surprised if you can see better with your old glasses. I'd be tempted to go back and have them check just in case.
My sister recently picked up her first ever pair of specs from Boots. She found she could hardly see a thing. Took them back and they found they given her someone else's prescription.
Still had problems so she went somewhere else. They found she didn't need specs but had cataracts in both eyes that previous optometrist hadn't noticed. Just had the second cataract removed, they won't do both together, and says her sight is as good as ever.
