Wow, thank you so much for all that detail Lia and graham!

I had a pair of glasses made up for about the 10th time; however, the ghosting is horrendous (my good eye with peripheral scarring ghosts whereas the one with worse VA and central scarring doesn’t) and everything/everyone has a prism of colour around it/them. You’re absolutely right, the ‘better/worse’ questions are a nightmare - my Optom adds ‘ different kind of worse’ in as well. I’ve never used glasses out of the house as they make me feel so dizzy. Perhaps better than nothing when it comes to music reading though? Will give it a go.

Lots to consider in these posts and I will do a little research on it all..

I think Presbyopia accurately describes my secondary eye issue, for sure. As a child I wore glasses for close work - the KC kicked in about 16 (diagnosed at 20 after being misdiagnosed multiple times). I’m 37 but it is more common to age prematurely with regards to eye sight as the muscles do the work for lax ligaments and it takes its toll. I’ve had a ridiculous amount of vitreous detachment for years and floaters, but since its collagen, makes sense mine would break down sooner than most.

I’m so glad I posted now!

This could be because the brain sees differently through glasses than it does with contact lenses and it can take time to adjust; especially if one is very short-sighted and has not worn glasses for years.

I'd been wearing contact lenses for over 30 years before I was prescribed a pair of glasses that I could use for back-up. I'd had glasses over the years but they had been useless, as not only was the vision not very good but I felt dizzy if I tried a walk anywhere with them, even across a room.

What I didn't know was that my eyes would need to time to adapt, a lot of time. My glasses prescription is about -12 dioptres, so It took me about six weeks, wearing the glasses about 40 minutes a day, before the dizziness feeling had completely gone.
