Hello
Thanks everyone for the useful tips.
Today was day 5 and I wore them for 4 hours. They were pretty uncomfortable today, more so than other days. I guess that is part of the course.
Thank you for all your messages. Thank you also for the tips on how to manage taking lenses out! I seem to have got the knack of it now!
I like the idea of getting a pair of glasses and making them blurry to see through. I might try that and then other people might understand!
Matthew, you asked me how long it took me to get my lenses. I was actually diagnosed when I went to Boots optician for an eye test. I have private medical cover through work and managed to get an appointment as a private patient at Moorfields pretty quickly. So overall, probably 6 weeks. My healthcare provider paid for the initial consultation (subject to the excess) but wont pay or contribute for me to see the optician to be fitted with lenses or for the lenses themselves as they class contact lenses as cosmetic! I guess its that long held belief that glasses are to help you see and contact lenses are for vanity.
In my own way, I'm educating people about the condition by talking about it very freely at work and they have made reasonable adjustments which have made a big difference. The suggestions in the employers fact sheet were excellent. As an Employment Lawyer myself, I can see that the fact sheet was written with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, very much in mind!
Just wanted to say hello
