Not at all.
How is a poor man supposed to pass the test if the manufacturers of the Snellen Chart put together letters that muddle and confuse?

Oh I never thought I was cheating. I just thought that it was allowed in the rules.
In the chair in recent years I have prefixed my admission that I really could not see the letters with an explanation that I know what the letters are but that I can\t see them. But now I see clearly the letters OO and persuade myself that they can't be, so keep squinting to find out which is a D or a C. The answer is that neither is anything but an O.
It's not me that's cheating. it is the optometrist.
