Hi.

I don´t swim a lot, but sometimes during the summer. I never swim with my eyes open below the surface though. Last summer i still had contact lens on my right eye, the left with graft, and spent some time on the beach, swimming. Some contact for the eyes with water will allways come with swimming, and I never heard that a fully healed graft should suffer in contact with pure water.

But you said you have lost vision on one eye. How did that happen? Didn´t you get any help to heal the eye or get a new cornea ? Seems strange.

hi thanks for the information i have no idea what happened. my vision has deteriorated over a period of months they say my cornea is not rejecting and therefore wont do another one though they registered me partially sighted and are currently organising support for me from social work which will take ages as i used to deal with them a lot from my emplloyment as a support worker.

once again thanks

james

Hello there!

I have a big problem here, as i used to swim about four times a week wearing goggles and a contact lens. Since having a graft four months ago i have been told not to swim yet and i think that all the stitches will need to be removed before my surgeon considers it.

I know there is a big risk with infection, as bacteria can pass through water, and that even with wearing goggles you aren't really protected. I haven't heard abut not swimming once the graft has fully healed and the stitches removed though.

Am sorry to hear about your eyesight and really hope that you can get something sorted soon.

I agree with Sweet here, you should avoid swimming before the graft has healed and the stitches are removed. My first graft is old, stitces removed in 99.

Good luck with your vision, and hopefully the cornea will clear up and give you full vision again.

(ps, see you live in Glasgow; billy boy or Celtic ? :) )

Hehehe, glad to hear from someone else who doesn't like football!! :P I'm a rugby fan as well, but only so much as when the six nations play!! I might casually add here that Wales may have won that this year! Ooppss, did i really post that here?!! LMAO!!!

When celebrating after the last match in welsh rugby shirts we met up with a group of scots who seemed more excited than we were!! Hehehe, i think though that us winning was all down to beating England in the first match, as this kinda gave us so much confidence to win!

Great season all around! Looking forward to next year now!!!
