Vision after CXL

Postby McIzzerson » Tue 30 Nov 2021 2:56 pm

Hi all

I had CXL on Monday 22nd (last week). First few days were some of the worst pain I’ve ever experienced!

However, now on the other side of things pain wise, but my vision is still extremely blurry and I am very light sensitive.

I am nervous as I was told I would need a max 2 weeks off work but am concerned I won’t be able to go back next week.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me about their experiences with poor vision after CXL? How long did it take until you were able to go back to work?

Thanks all - feel quite miserable and frustrated.

It’s a scary time post CXL! It took a couple of weeks before it was more normal for me. It was a very gradual return for me but not pleasant waiting!

I trust it will come back for you soon :)

Practically, you could get your GP to sign you off work if necessary. When is your next review at the hospital?

Thank you for your response RedOnion, definitely a scary time but that’s reassuring. Thank you!

GSward, thank you! work are actually being very supportive but am more concerned from a financial perspective as this time off thus far has been covered but if I were to take any longer, I’d probably end up on SSP! Eek.

Hi Kieran, thanks for the message. Vision still not amazing. However, definitely improving day on day. It’s just a slow and frustrating process!

Have you also had CXL?

Not yet - they mentioned it last time I was there but want to wait and see on the next scan if there’s progression - I feel there has been a little

It’s on my better eye so not sure if I want the risk

Is vision worst than before ?

Hi Kieran, my vision was worse right after the CXL but I’m now 6 weeks post CXL and it has stabilised in one eye and dramatically improved in the other, which I’m overjoyed about.
