My glasses cost £7.50 out of a laboratory supplies catalogue. They are specifically designed for out door use in windy conditions and for the total blocking of UV light. They are quite dark but I have found them to be as good as any richmans glasses. They also have dark side shields too for when the sun is at the side or behind so no reflection on the inside of the lens.

The moorfields optician have shown me some nice frames with lenses that are heavily tinted 15-25%. They were offering me a pair for daytime grey tint, a pair for the night i requested a brown/orange tint. The brown/orange tint increases light contrast in the dark whilst reducing the glare. Best thing abt these two pair of glasses was they were free NHS jobbies. What im saying yes Oakleys are gr8 they offer everything we need but the basics are there on the NHS (xcluding the fancies) as well. Personally i cant wait to get my prescription lenses & when this happens im sending out my original Oakley minute sunglasses out to the states (u have 2 send to usa 4 convertion). The Minute range cost abt £80 upwards still in perfect condition & my current pair the new valve cost me £125.
Ive had 4 graft rejections in right eye. I'm intolerable to lens in my left eye. Been 2yrs Ive learnt to live life with single ocular vision and I enjoy everyday as I have KC in my left eye. I live to enjoy everyday as it comes with my wife and children.

I’m also having a problem with hypersensitivity with regards to light. At the moment my £20.00 boots sunglasses seem to be doing the job during daylight.

However it’s once the sun goes down that my problems really start. I seem to experience a massive glare from artificial lighting; some refer to it as “lens flare”. For example car headlights can completely fill my field of vision by the time their within say 6 meters of my car. According to my optician I should try slightly yellow/brown tinted glasses but according to the DSA this is a no-no. I mean surly tinted glasses as night will only inhibit my vision further…?

Dose anybody else have this sort of problem and how do you deal with itÂ…?

There is good reason for the DSA saying what they did. Glasses with a slight tint aleviate the headlights, but then how do you see other objects in dim light such as padestrians, cyclist who do not always have good lighting etc.

I think a subtle tint on the lens helps, also my main two cars have a slight tint on the windscreen to reduce glare. Another option has just occured, ordinary glasses but with an antifeflective coating. Before going to contacts, my glasses were not tinted, but did have this coating and light sensitivity was not an issue, probably because the way in which it reduces reflections/glare.

Just a thought worth trying.

I think that is a good idea remove the tint & keep the antiglare feature on the lens. As far as i know u can have this put on either side of the lens.

Thanks everbody - spoke with a local optician and they have also suggested polarised lenses. Getting them in the next few days and will let you know how I get on!

Has to be better than my current situation - have ended up wearing a baseball cap as well to try and cut out some of the light
