I JUST FOUND THAT FUNNY AS IF IT WAS OUT OF A MOVIE.
MIGHT BE SILLY TO ASK AND PLEASE DO NOT LAUGH...
CAN IT BE DONE?IF ANYONE WOULD KNOW I GUESS YOU GUYS WOULD.

Hi

I think you need to read the homepage of this site so that you can understand what it is you have and what can happen

Thus, if you browse over to

http://KC.roundel.net/index.html

And click on the What Is Keratoconus Section that will give you a decent overview of what you have.

Noone can determne whether/when the KC will affect the other eye. Yu have to wait and see.

With regards to what others say, be less concerend with what others say. Unfortunately there are many people who say inccrrect things about this condition. Only the other evening I was on another board where I had this "cartoon" argue with me telling me that he knows of a cure for corneal scarring.......the conversation got soo embarrasing for me that the whole things turned comical and I could no longer embarass his intelligence.

Arm yourself with the knowledge which can be gathered and absorbed on thie homepage of this site, speak with your own CL / Consultant and you will be in better hands.

If someone asks you why you dont have a Eye Transplant.....just turn around and say to them "Because there Medically Impossible!....

Whether you wish to tell them of your condition and in what detail is upto you...but generally ppl tell there family and close friends assuming they do have an ounce of understanding....so once you have this understanding you can tell them in whatever detail you like.
KC is about facing the challenges it creates rather than accepting the problems it generates -

Well to just pick on that specifically. An entire 'eye transplant' is not possible, at least not under current medical technology anywhere that I know of or have read even in experimental phases even thou there have been attempts but the sheer amount of nerves at the back of the eye are too small and too complex to simply 'join', you can get a cornea transplant but that is not the same as an 'eye transplant' because that only involves a relatively small part at the front of the eye which is also rather simple when compared to the back of the eye and the optic nerves that connect to the brain and to keep this simple, at the back of the eye there is a 'cord' called the optic nerve which is the nerve that connects the eye to the brain. It carries the impulses formed by the retina to the brain, which interprets them as images, and there are no tools available as such because they are much to small to connect, join, stitch or fuse a donor eye to the 'live' nerve of a patient.
Our only option as KC sufferers is to wear, for the majority of us, contact lenses in one form or another or in more sevre cases a corneal transplant/graft.

so as jayuk already said, and if you want a regular simple reply, just say, because this isn't Star Trek ... ;)
