Re: Cross linking at 35
It's hard to say. From the consultants point of view it is, i.e. through a slit lamp it's looking less cloudy, but it doesn't relate to much real world improvement for me. I think, in all honesty, close up it is slightly better... although the horrible reflections haven't gone down, I can see things sharper within those reflections, if that makes sense. Anything from any kid of distance is still useless though

Things should only get better from now on. I did some research online and it looks like all the graphs show decline in "densitometry" after the third months

Hang in there buddy.

Re: Cross linking at 35
Quick update,
Went to the clinic today. The nurse did the pentacam and sent me back to the waiting room. He'd then usually send the prints to the doctor who would then see me in due time to discuss the results (not sure how it's done elsewhere, I live in the United Arab Emirates). Only this time the nurse called me back again to the lab and did the scan on each eye. Twice. I only knew why when I met the doctor later, he said "looks like things are getting better, your cornea flattened as you can see". And lo and behold, the topography of change is all green, varying from -. 7 to - 0.9, which was my baseline more or less six weeks ago.
I asked the doc whether this was normal, the cornea flattening on its own. He said it happens. You may have rubbed your eyes vigorously the day before the previous test... He asked me how I felt, I said it's hard to tell but the minor star burst seems to be stable. He said my case is not urgent anymore but he'd still like to see me in a couple of weeks.
Not sure what happened, but I suspect the previous scan was faulty somehow. I'm ashamed to admit that I've been taking vitamin D supplements and changing my diet a bit. (I would not openly admit to that, especially given how there's no scientific evidence for supplements vis a vis keratoconus).
Whatever the reason, I'm a bit relieved. At least the urgency to undergo cross linking is put on hold for now.

Thanks mate! You guys have been of a great support
Let's see what happens in two weeks. In the meantime I'll stop pretending to understand how keratoconus does (or does not) work.

Re: Cross linking at 35
I honestly feel a little embarrassed and self conscious updating this thread especially seeing that are other people here with far more serious conditions than mine...
But since I started it already, a quick update :
Went and got a Pentacam scan today as scheduled. The doctor said (with a bored tone!) that my right eye continued to flatten, while the left is more or less stable. I'm to get another scan again in a month time...
It goes without saying that I'm relieved. I did noticed that my vision has been steady. I'm also beginning to realize that maybe there's been a feeling of paranoia on my part, combined with other things going on in my life, that pushed me to disproportionate levels of worry about this.
Once again thank you all for your input. Hope you have a nice weekend.
