I don't think there's a simple yes or no answer to this; there's variables. How bad is your keratoconus? What's your age? Are you okay with taking a fair amount of time off work?

The usual time is around 3 months between each eye, this means your first eye has settled down enough to get a new prescription. Unfortunately this hasn't been the case for me... 5 months and still waiting (cheers NHS) but I have my second eye booked in for the end of the month as I don't want to leave it any longer.

Age 31
Astigmatism from about age 25
Last year L -1.75, R -1.75
Last week L - 1.75 R -4.5

How Long is a fair amount? I've been told a couple of weeks and I should be back at work??

Similar to me actually. Well I'd certainly look at getting the right eye done as soon as possible. The left one... who knows. I am 30 and my left eye hasn't changed much, even though technically (and strangely) it's thinner than the right eye. Ultimately I asked the consultant the question, "What would you do?" and he said if it were his son, he'd get it done. That was my answer. However he said as it's hardly changing, there's no 'rush' and to just do it when convenient. So for me, it's been nearly a 6 month gap between the two.

I took a week off when my right eye was done, but that's because I was dependent on my better eye with the correct prescription. This time around I am preparing for at least 2 weeks off, but maybe more as my new prescription hasn't come in yet. I'm going to be almost blind for 3-4 weeks I think. With both eyes in recovery at the same time, I wouldn't like to say when you'll be okay... maybe someone that's had that done will reply in here. Suppose it depends what job you do! Driving might be hard.
