Hello all,
I have keratoconus in both my eyes, I wear a gp lens in my left eye, which for now is fine. In my right eye I have started to see double mainly on dark backgrounds and if its is illuminated. My optician told me that these are the early symptoms of keratoconus.
I can still see fine during the day, im thinking of getting the right eye cross-linked soon to avoid loss of vision, the problem is that I cant get an earlier appointment with the eye clinic on the nhs, there is a 3 month wait, I think my vision would have got worse by then.
Please advice me on what to do.
many thanks
early keratoconus

Re: early keratoconus
Hello AMP and welcome,
The trouble is that there's only a handful of hospitals offering crosslinking on the NHS at the moment. And they usually need evidence of progression over 6mths before they will offer the treatment. With very early KC, it's hopefully not going to progress quickly, so that probably doesn't matter. The only alternative is to have it done privately, but that isn't cheap!
